A police helicopter joined the hunt for raiders who had grabbed cash from a post office in Hove yesterday morning.

Two men jumped over the counter at Hangleton Newsagency in Hangleton Way and grabbed cash and stamps.

Postmaster Michael Blackmore said: "Threats were made but no one was hurt."

Police, including the force helicopter, searched the area and two men were later arrested.

This was the second post office robbery in Brighton and Hove in less than a week.

Armed raiders brandishing a knife and a sawn-off shotgun held up staff at a shop in Leybourne Parade, Lower Bevendean, Brighton, at 11.15am on Saturday.

They demanded cash and were handed what police described as a substantial amount before they fled.

Both robbers, one about 5ft 11in and the other shorter, kept their faces covered.
