Neville and June Hayward retired from their hairdressing business in 1993.
Mr Hayward, 75, said: "While working, we could never go out on the spur of the moment. Now we enjoy playing golf and eating out.
"It was good to see the Chancellor realised the cost of petrol needed to be reduced but it wasn't enough."
The couple are concerned about the deal older pensioners receive from the Government.
Mr Hayward and his wife, 72, will receive an extra £44 per month due to the pension in-crease and petrol savings.
Mr Hayward said: "Obviously this is better than nothing but we are still not happy about council tax rises and indirect taxation, which reduce any benefits we see."
