Seven days in The Albion's current season can, like politics, be a long time.

How many of the 3,000 fans who exploded into song and celebration at the final whistle at Brisbane Road on Saturday booed the team off the Withdean pitch a week before?

How many of the supporters who chanted "Micky Adams' blue and white army" were the supporters who had abused the Albion boss during and after the home game with York?

I've seen some classic examples of 'fickle supporters' in my time following the team. I've even been guilty of it at times, but some of the things the current Albion boss is being subjected to beggar belief.

Did Mullery or Lloyd receive anything like the abuse Adams has been subjected to in their respective promotion campaigns?

Perhaps people need to put things into perspective. When Jeff Wood was sacked in April 1999, Micky Adams was the first choice for fans and the club.

Just think how far Albion have come since he walked in. At that time, the club were 17th in Division Three. Adams famously quipped after his first game that "17th in Division Three either means it's a bad team or a bad manager and I have to tell you I am not a bad manager".

Brighton fans should know what a bad manager is because they have had to put with a few over the years.

Another favourite Adams saying is that the league table does not lie. Have any of the noisy minority looked at Division Three recently? It has been a few years since Albion have been in that position at this time of the year.

Perhaps the knockers and the doubters will only be satisfied when they have driven Adams away from the club.

Albion may be a sleeping giant, but they are certainly not out of the woods yet. With Falmer still unresolved, limited attendance and, at present, budgetary limitations, coupled with the abuse from sections of the support, it might very well result in Adams walking out to go to bigger and better things. And who would blame him?

Then the real problems would start all over again. Who would be the first choices of club and fans then? A quality manager with a proven track record, ten a penny? I don't think so.

One of the best known boxing governing bodies, the WBO, have constantly had to fend off accusations that they lack credibility in the sport.

Their case was not helped the other week with the latest publication of their rankings.

In the super-middleweight division, once dominated by Messrs Benn and Eubank, American fighter Junior Startin moved up from No.7 to No.5 in the pecking order. Quite an achievement bearing in mind Mr Startin died in October of last year!

That one will take a bit of living down! Excuse the pun.

It was once said of the WBO that Saddam Hussein was prepared to stand trial for war crimes on the condition that they provided the judges.

So the Professional Darts Council are considering expelling eight-times world champion Phil 'The Power' Taylor as a result of his recent conviction for indecent assault on a couple of female fans.

Can't see it happening really. PDC puppet masters Sky certainly won't let them sack the biggest star in the game and, in the unlikely event of them actually booting him out, you can bet your bottom dollar rival faction the BDO will welcome Taylor back with open arms, regardless of what he has done.
