Police believe a "David Beckham lookalike" could lead them to the man responsible for nine armed raids in Worthing since Christmas.

The man detectives want to speak to was one of three witnesses at the Murco Garage in Sompting Road, on December 28, around the time of a raid at 9.15pm.

Detectives said the "Beckham" witness was white, in his 30s, slim, with cropped and thinning fair hair and a goatee beard. He wore a dark, long-sleeved jumper and trousers.

The second witness came to the garage on a cycle, leaving it propped against the shopfront.

He was 15 to 17, 5ft 5in tall and had short brown hair with a fringe. He had a local accent, a "distinctive" nose, chubby build and was wearing a dark Nike top.

The third witness was in the garage just after the offence. All three are asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 and ask for the Operation Texan incident room.

An appeal on BBC1's Crimewatch show last week prompted 15 people to call with information, which the police are investigating.

A reward of £10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

The robber is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s and 5ft 8in to 5ft 11in tall with a prominent nose.
