A rail user's pressure group wants improvements to the public address system at Brighton Railway Station after complaints of inaudible announcements.
Recalling days of the much-maligned British Rail station announcers before privatisation, Brighton Line Commuters say announcements are virtually indecipherable in some parts of the station.
Brighton Line Commuters say the system has not been working properly since the floods last October.
However Connex denies there have been any on-going problems although they are planning to spend £17m upgrading the service in the next few months anyway.
A spokesman for Brighton Line Commuters, said: "At the moment you can only hear the message if you are right underneath a speaker. If you are between two or more you get stereo with a delay, making the whole announcement a mental puzzle."
However David Ewart, media relations manager for Connex, said: "As far as we are aware there are no major on-going problems with the system at Brighton at all.
"We have the odd minor problem from time to time, such as a speaker failing, but this is rectified immediately by our engineers.
"The announcements are generally clear, we have good levels of sound and we actually get very few complaints. Certainly nothing has changed since the flooding."
