Ambitious John Crumplin would love a crack at managing a professional club one day.

Crumplin has managed in the County League for the past three seasons with Selsey and Three Bridges and now wants a league hot-seat.

Crumplin, who was a cult hero during his playing days with the Seagulls, said: "Something like the Brighton job one day would be ideal. I'd love to go back there. I'm a bit stale at the moment and need to coach and manage at a higher level.

"It's not the boys' fault at Three Bridges because they've got their work commitments and I've got mine but I want to concentrate on developing my coaching and managing now.

"I feel I've done okay. I didn't do too badly with Selsey for two seasons. When I first arrived they had a shocking record and ended up eighth. I came to Three Bridges last season and kept them in the division and now they have had their best start for 20 years.

"My style reflects what I was like as a player: workmanlike. I believe players should keep it simple. There is a saying that football is a simple game complicated by footballers and in some respects that is right.

"I think I played at the highest level I could as a player, in the old first division, but I think I could do better as a manager.

"And how many top managers are genuine world class players? Just look at Sir Alex Ferguson."
