Baby Jamie Louise Webb made a final piece of Crawley Hospital history when she came into the world.
The 6lb 3oz girl was the last baby to be born at the hospital's maternity department before yesterday's closure. Facilities have moved to East Surrey Hospital at Redhill.
Mum Sharon Byrne and dad Stewart Webb, from Crawley, were delighted with the new arrival. The end of an era provided an emotional moment for the nurses, nearly all of whom are transferring to Redhill.
The move has been phased over the past three days. Admissions were stopped on Wednesday in preparation for the change.
Campaigners marked the controversial departure with a candlelit vigil and a protest outside the hospital.
NHS managers have pledged to provide improved facilities at Redhill.
