Depleted Bognor averted a shock exit in the Sussex Senior Cup as they came from two goals down to win 3-2 away to in-form County League side Hassocks.

Matt Russell grabbed the winner from close range with just three minutes remaining.

Hassocks had gone ahead with a classic counter-attack on 14 minutes which was finished off by makeshift striker Micky Turner.

The Ryman League visitors were seeing most of the ball but fell further behind on 36 minutes when Phil Eldret finished strongly.

At that stage a major upset looked likely but after Adie Miles had a goal disallowed for offside Bognor threw themselves a lifeline two minutes before half time when Jamie Howell scored.

Bognor, who turned out only 12 players, domin-ated the second half and drew level on 75 minutes through Nicky Wyatt.
