Police have released security camera footage of a man wanted in connection with a spate of armed robberies in Worthing.

There have been five armed raids in the past four weeks, with two garages targeted and an off-licence.

Police have now released a photograph of a man to try to jog people's memories.

The footage was captured on security cameras at the Texaco garage in Heene Road.

Detectives are growing increasingly concerned following the raids, which have put forecourt attendants and traders on alert.

They are linking all five attacks and are asking people to call them if they see someone who matches the description.

Detective Constable Amanda Lawrence said: "We are appealing to forecourt and retail staff to be aware of the description and photo of the offender.

"They should report anyone acting suspiciously to police and should not approach the person themselves."

The first robbery took place at the Murco garage in Sompting Road on December 28 just before 9.30pm. A man threatened staff with a gun before demanding cash.

There have been two raids at the Heene Road garage on January 4 and 8.

A man also stole £50 from a till after bursting into the BP garage in Brighton Road on January 13 armed with a gun.

The latest raid happened at the Thresher off licence in Church Road, Tarring, last Wednesday night at 9.30pm. He escaped with a can of cola and cash.

The man was white, in his early 20s, 5ft 7in to 5ft 11in tall, and wore an off-white or cream jacket with a hood and a multicoloured scarf.

He wore dark trousers or jeans and dark shoes. He sometimes has a pink plaster on his face.
