Protesters campaigning to keep the maternity and casualty departments at Crawley Hospital staged a candlelit vigil last night.
The gathering, between 5pm and 7pm, marked the final evening of the maternity unit at the hospital, which has now been moved to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
Equipment started moving yesterday and women, some due to give birth, were today being transfered to Redhill.
No date has yet been fixed for the casualty department to move and campaigners have vowed to fight on against the transfer.
Today pensioners will stage a protest outside the hospital from noon until 2pm.
