The Sussex Careers Service has set up a web site to provide advice to young people, parents and employers.

Bruce Nairn, Sussex careers information unit, said: "This web site is part of a vital strategy to develop a comprehensive range of accessible services for people of all ages. Staff at the careers services will ensure the information on the site remains up-to-date and relevant."

The site was published last week and covers advice about East Sussex courses, employment and careers services.

Bruce said: "We have a wide range of material online and we will expand this, to include information such as local job vacancies, as we continue to develop the site."

Mike Hemmings, head of vocational studies at Seaford Head Community College, has been using the site with 14 to 15-year-old pupils in careers sessions.

Mike said: "It is one of the best careers advice sites I have found on the internet and a great improvement on anything that came before."

The site was built by Newtimber-based Absolute Internet.

Olivia Gwyn-Jones, head of corporate relations for Absolute Internet, said: "There is a huge amount of content on the site. The challenge for us was to make site navigable for the user.

"We have made sure that any area can be reached with a single mouse click."
