Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames has become a father for the third time.

Little Christopher, who was born on January 11 to Mr Soames and his second wife Serena, has been named after his grandfather, who was also an MP.

When Mr Soames' daughter Isabella was born three years ago he compared her to a "decent sized salmon".

But the words he used to describe his third child did not reflect his interest in field sports.

He described Christopher as "a splendid bouncing boy who his family think is marvellous".

Asked whether he would be changing nappies, the busy Tory MP, who attended pre-natal classes with his wife before Isabella's birth, said: "No, I don't do any of that."
