Hospital chiefs are poised to sell off former staff homes to slash their burgeoning overdraft.
Property at Hospital Villas, Haywards Heath, is expected to raise £721,000 for the stricken Princess Royal Hospital.
The hospital, in Haywards Heath, is about £500,000 over its spending target for the year.
Mid Sussex NHS Trust is £1.53 million in the red.
Managers were ordered to bring in a programme of cost-cutting measures and should have paid back about a third of their existing bill to the NHS.
They have also used £200,000 of cash for capital projects to help with running costs.
