The sudden death of a young mother may go unsolved for several weeks.

The body of 29-year-old Tracey Steer was found last week at a house in Denham Road, Burgess Hill.

However, so far police inquiries and a post-mortem have provided no clues as to how the mother of three died.

Further tests are being carried out to discover whether Tracey died as the result of a sudden collapse due to a medical problem.

Police said nothing had been discovered in the bedroom where she was found or anywhere in the house to indicate whether she was the victim of an assault.

However, officers say they are not in a position to rule out any possible cause of death.

Investigating officers say they have no reason at present to launch a murder inquiry.

Barry Markham, coroner's officer for Mid Sussex, said: "At this stage the result of the examination is not conclusive, so there will be further tests. It is possible we won't know the results for two or three weeks.

"The house was secure and there was nothing to suggest anything untoward. Until we establish the cause of death we won't know. There was nothing at the scene to suggest anything suspicious."

Tracey was found on Wednesday evening after a friend failed to get any response at the house.
