Hove featherweight Paul Halpin has been promised a shot at the WBO inter-continental title.
Halpin was expecting to fight the winner of last night's scheduled title bout between Gavin Rees and Alex Moon on March 10 or 17.
But Newbridge youngster Rees was denied a chance to win the vacant WBO Intercontinental feather-weight title at the Wythenshawe Forum in Manchester last night following the late withdrawal of Liverpool's Moon with flu.
Instead, the 20-year-old had to make do with a second-round win over Brigg journeyman Chris Jickells as he took his winning streak into double figures.
Rees said: "I am gutted about missing out on the chance to win my first professional title, but I just had to get on with it. Hopefully I will get another chance to fight for this title - as long as they can find someone for me to box."
Unbeaten Halpin, sidelined since the end of August with eye damage, has a warm-up fight at the Wembley Conference Centre on February 24.
