Newick are celebrating their first win of the season after beating Royal & Sun Alliance 8-5 in Sussex One.

Outside half Kevin Byrne crafted a try for wing Dan Childs and later guided over a penalty to put a broad smile on the face of skipper Wayne Thomas. David Price managed a fine solo try for RSA.

Pulborough made it three wins in a row with an impressive display to win 47-7 at UC Chichester.

Skipper and winger Will Lawes scored a try hat-trick and said: "We are really working as a team now."

There were also tries for Jon Scrase (2), Matt Wormull (2), Baz Brown and Peter Bennett, who added a conversion. Patrick Conlon got over for the students and Simon Swadling converted.

Seaford's slump continued, though they were pleased with their display in a 13-12 home defeat by Horsham. Paul Baker kicked four penalties.

Horsham's Pete Mason was the only try scorer. John Macfarlane added a conversion and three penalties.

Uckfield did all the damage in the first half at Hellingly, scoring 26 unanswered points in a 29-5 win.

Tim Rowland (2), Steve Ambrose and Nick Ridley scored tries with Leigh Bialik kicking three conversions, plus a second half penalty.

Hastings & Bexhill reman top after scoring a rare win at Crowborough. Tries from Paul Sandeman and Steve Pepper, plus Mark Patmore's conversions and penalty, clinched a 17-3 success.

Old Brightonians' 40-3 win over ring-rusty Burgess Hill at Waterhall was enough to keep them on top of Sussex Two East on points difference.

Tries came from Colin Whiting (2), Mark Dodd (2), Tim Wright and Steve Humphries with Mike Edmunds adding five conversions and a penalty.

Rye maintained the pressure with a 29-3 defeat of Robertsbridge. Tries came from Phil Scriven, Dave Blackman, John Doughty and Andy Smith. David Smith kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Huw Watts struck twice in Sussex Police's 31-17 defeat of Plumpton. Tony O'Donnell, Ben Sole and Steve Hill also went over with Rob Blackett kicking two penalties.

Mark Slade, Nigel Box and Andy Whiting scored the tries which kept Plumpton in contention for most of the afternoon.

Arun lead Sussex Two West after defeating Barns Green 33-0.

Shoreham beat Midhurst 39-0 thanks to tries from Martin Chatfield, Gareth Horton, Dave Dickson, Ian McCallum and John Chapman. Gary Howorth kicked four conversions and two penalties.
