A last-minute equaliser denied Langney Sports what would have been a well earned victory against eastern division promotion hopefuls Tonbridge.

Sports had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Priory Lane after missing a glut of gilt-edged chances that should have put the game beyond doubt.

But there was no criticism from Langney boss Garry Wilson.

He said: "We played some fine football on an awful pitch against a very experienced side.

"I thought we were the better side and deserved to win, even though we were without three or four of our regular players."

Sports should have gone in at half-time at least two goals to the good.

With a bitter wind behind them, they attacked incessantly, but chances were spurned by Matty Crabb, John Westcott and Jason Reed.

John Snelgrove gave Sports the lead two minutes into the second half, his shot going in off goalkeeper Joe Radford following a goalmouth scramble.

Although Tonbridge had much more of the play after the interval, Snelgrove was guilty of the miss of the match.

One goal seemed to be enough, though, until substitute Dave Arter flicked the ball past advancing goalkeeper Simon Davey who should have been quicker out of his goal to cut out Wade Falana's through pass.
