As one of the 262 who contracted MRSA following an operation in the Royal Sussex Hospital during March this year, I wonder whether increasing the infection control team is the real answer.
Perhaps the Brighton Health Care Trust might care to pay a little more attention to the elementary cleaning of the wards, which does not seem to be the responsibility of the nurses.
My bed was directly under a ventilator, which showered me with dust, and the grid covering it was thick with fluff.
A cleaner did reluctantly agree to remove the fluff with his vacuum cleaner but compensated for the time taken by doing even less sweeping than usual.
It is hard to believe this lack of hygiene does not contribute to the spread of infection.
