In reply to Charles Goode (Opinion, December 8), when the closure of the King Alfred seemed a fait accompli, the thwarted dancers to whom he refers took the opportunity to take up an offer made by David Fleming, head of recreation and leisure, to move to Hove Town Hall.

This offer had been on the table for some time and was made to ensure the continuation of a social programme for the middle-aged and elderly.

Although it is none of Mr Goode's business, we do get a preferred hire charge to enable us to continue a service for those who prefer a dance that is not a disco.
