The Queen plans to visit East Sussex, it was announced today.

She will spend a day in the county with Prince Philip on March 29 as part of an extensive six-month programme of Royal 'away days'.

Buckingham Palace said this morning it had not yet been decided which locations the Queen would visit in East Sussex but more details would be available later. Prince Philip will accompany her on the trip.

The six-month itinerary, announced by Buckingham Palace today, also includes visits to Worcestershire, Wiltshire, South Yorkshire, Rutland and the Channel Islands.

It is in addition to the Queen's official engagements in London and Scotland as well as a state visit to Norway.

The 2001 royal diary includes a so-called Theme Day in London on books and publishing, a chance to meet the British Paralympic team and a reception at Buckingham Palace for some of the county's top achievers in business, technology and the environment.
