An elderly driver died following a two-vehicle crash last night.
The accident happened on the A280 at Findon, near Worthing, when a Peugeot 205 was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van.
The 78-year-old Peugeot driver, who came from the Worthing area, suffered multiple injuries and was dead on arrival at Worthing Hospital.
The van driver, 40, also from the Worthing area, escaped with minor injuries.
The road was closed for nearly three hours last night while the scene was cleared.
Police are trying to establish how the accident happened.
