Vladimir Voltchkov is seeking a new inspiration as he competes at this week's Samsung Open at the Brighton Centre.

Voltlchkov was dubbed Vladiator the Gladiator when he roared into the semi finals at Wimbledon this year.

But the Russian from Minsk will look to hit the right notes in Brighton by seeking out the best music gigs.

He said: "I saw the film the Gladiator when I was at Wimbledon and I'm trying to find some new motivation right now.

"I don't really go to the movies that much because I have been concentrating on my tennis more. But I would like to find something.

"I've never been to Brighton before and I'm hoping to have some time off and go and see the town and maybe go and listen to some bands. I like live music."

Voltchkov returns for the first time to England to play since his adventures at the All England Club buoyed up by the memories of his efforts during the Famous Fortnight.

He said: "Wimbledon gave me a lot of confidence and the opportunity to play in the main draw of many Tour events.

"That has provided me with the experience I needed to compete with really good players and become a better one. I'm more satisfied with my tennis. I played good in St Petersburg and reached the quarter finals and gave myself this week off so I hope to be in good form for Brighton.

"Now coming back I feel England is a pretty lucky country for me and I will do my best at the Open."

Voltchkov was unknown, but now his life has turned upside down following his exploits in London SW19 in the summer.

He said: "My life has changed big time in some ways. I can't really say there are many bad things about coming famous at Wimbledon. I enjoy the status I have now.

"I am more confident on court and all the players that seemed untouchable, you beat some of them and you know they are just like you, human beings."

Voltchkov is concerned that the Centre surface maybe too slow for him.

He said: "I would probably prefer playing on something a little quicker where the ball bounces lower but it will all be part of the experience I need to get and I want to play as many matches as I can next week.
