A restaurant ravaged by fire has risen from the ashes.

The Indiana Tandoori Restaurant in Church Road, Hove, reopens today three months after a serious fire left it a charred shell.

In August, fire crews battled for more than four hours to contain the blaze which started in the cooker area of the kitchen.

It was gutted just a year after owner Abdul Kashem had built an extension and redecorated it. Since then, he had to spend thousands of pounds to return the eatery to its former glory.

Mr Kashem, owner for eight years, said: "It needed a complete overhaul. We have been working day and night to get the place open in time and now I am just so anxious I cannot wait."

In January the restaurant will be supporting the Argus Appeal with a night of entertainment.

Appeal co-ordinator Mike Mendoza said: "I am so pleased the Indiana is back in business after the recent disaster and equally delighted that they want to support the Argus Appeal in this way, which is very generous of them."
