Police are trying to trace two witnesses who they believe may have seen a 15-year-old boy being punched in the mouth in Crawley.
The boy was approached by six youths at the corner of Station Road, Three Bridges, Crawley, on Monday, October 16, at 4pm.
They demanded cigarettes and money and when he said he didn't have any he was punched in the mouth, causing a cut which needed hospital treatment.
His attacker was about 16, 5ft 11ins, with blond hair.
Police believe the group was abusive to a woman driving a light blue car, heading towards Maidenbower, shortly before the attack. There was also a man aged 35-40 nearby who might have seen the attack.
PC Matt Taylor is asking these two people to contact him on 0845 60 70 999.
