Albion's new Reserve boss Dean White made a long-awaited winning start at Worthing last night.

Goals by Daniel Marney, Rod Thomas and substitute Shaun Wilkinson gave the Seagulls a 3-1 Combination victory against Colchester.

White, frustrated by a succession of post-ponements since his appointment at the start of October, saw his experienced side fall behind in the fifth minute to a goal from Ricki Metcalf.

Youngster Marney, playing his first game since August after knee and thigh injuries, equalised with a low drive on the turn just before the break.

Thomas slammed Albion ahead from an acute angle on 62 minutes and Wilkinson emphasised the Seagulls' domination with a volley from a Lee Johnson corner eight minutes from time.

Goalkeeper Mark Cartwright made his comeback from hernia surgery in the second half and there was also a run-out for trialist Warren Kenna, the brother of Blackburn's Jeff Kenna.

Albion Reserves: Packham; Melton, Kenna, Crosby, Carr, D.Davis, Thomas, Johnson, Ramsay, Marney, Brooker. Subs: Wilkinson for Marney (64) Cartwright for Packham (45), Beech, A. Davis, McCurdy for Brooker (65).
