Hove has the second-highest divorce rate in Britain, according to a new survey.
Researchers from Claritas UK say the place where you live can often make or break a marriage.
It says living by the sea or in a place of high unemployment can put a strain on relationships.
According to the results, the best place to have a successful marriage is Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
At the other end of the scale, Skelmersdale in Lancashire has the highest divorce rate in Britain at 32.4 per cent.
Hove came second in the divorce league, with a rate of 29 per cent.
Brighton, Littlehampton and St Leonards all have scores of more than 21 per cent and were all in the top 50.
The Claritas survey showed that the national average divorce rate was 16.4 per cent.
Spokesman Roger Williams said: "Our research has revealed that you can boost your chances of wedded bliss by a massive 500 per cent simply by living in the right town."
