A website has been launched to inspire the public to become "active citizens".
CitizensConnection.net, set up by campaign group Common Purpose, features suggestions on how to improve neighbourhoods, turn ideas into reality, start a campaign or find out how British society really works.
Its aim is to become an online meeting place for people wanting to be involved in the community. Visitors can have their say by entering one of the site's discussion forums. Debate rages on topics from how to get a pedestrian crossing to public apathy in the face of the fuel crisis.
