Tests on the body of a reclusive man found in suspicious circumstances have proved inconclusive.

Brandon Hadley, 37, was found dead at his home in Grove Road, Eastbourne, by his parents on Monday afternoon.

A post-mortem carried out last night revealed two cuts to the back of his head and signs of regular drinking. But it failed to determine the cause of his death and further tests will be carried out.

Detectives described Mr Hadley as a loner with no brothers or sisters.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Moore, of Eastbourne CID, said: "The post-mortem at this time proved inconclusive. Further tests are due to be carried out but the results may take up to two weeks to complete.

"We are investigating the matter with a small team. We are anxious to hear from people who knew the deceased or who had contact with him in the last two weeks."

Anyone able to help is asked to contact Mr Moore on 0845 6070999.

Police said Mr Hadley was last seen on Saturday evening. His body was found at 1pm on Monday.

Mr Moore added: "The examination revealed the two cuts to the head were believed to have been caused on two separate occasions.

"It is also believed he had a history of falling over, although it is too early to say whether that was the cause."
