Police are warning car owners to be on their guard against petrol thieves.
Officers at Hastings say Mini owners are particularly at risk.
Over the past few weeks many cars have had their petrol caps prised open or sawn off and their fuel tanks emptied.
Police are advising motorists to park their vehicles in well lit or busy areas and to use car alarms.
