Albion manager Micky Adams has told Mark Cartwright he must stay on top form to earn a contract.

Adams praised the on-loan Wrexham keeper for his display in Tuesday's 2-1 Worthington Cup defeat by Millwall.

"I thought Mark Cartwright was excellent again," he said. But Adams added: "He has to perform for the month. It is no use performing for two games and then not for the third.

"It's still an open-ended arrangement and he knows that. We will see how he goes."

Cartwright has six more matches in which to impress, starting at Lincoln on Saturday.

Nathan Jones is in contention for his first start after an impressive cameo as a late substitute against Millwall.

"He has put himself in the frame with that performance," Adams said.
