With reference to your article (Argus, August 12) about the letter sent to Dr Enderby from Amnesty International, I too received such a letter. My initial bewilderment was quickly replaced by anger as I realised many elderly people would have received a copy of the letter and could be very frightened by its contents.

Although I agree with many of the ideals Amnesty fights for, I think it has hit rock bottom with this campaign.

Indeed, if other members disapprove as strongly as I did, Amnesty International will have done itself a grave disservice as it will lose considerable income. I have written to my bank cancelling my direct debit and have informed Amnesty International of my decision.
