Ken Livingstone cut across party boundaries when he formed his London administration.
With the local ruling party in disarray following Lord Bassam's departure, the time has come to appoint some Conservative-led councillors.
We could begin by replacing those councillors who cover rubbish collection, street cleaning and parking. Having done that, appoint a council leader with the drive needed to bring law and order back to Brighton and Hove.
