I cannot see the logic behind the recent statement by David Lepper MP that "too much emphasis" had been placed on the proposed supermarket on the Brighton Station site, because it was "only part" of the planning brief. If it had been a small nuclear reprocessing plant that was proposed, would David still be saying that it was "only part" of the development?

Surely it is the existence of the supermarket that is the problem. What you put next to it, on top of it or underneath it is hardly going to make much difference, unless perhaps it is a network of concrete bollards one metre apart, which would keep cars (but not bikes or pedestrians) well away from the place.
