OPEN HOUSES: Vina Daganall is again opening her beautiful garden at 47 The Drive, as part of the Brighton Festival, with a group exhibition of her ceramic murals, a 'metal menagerie' by Mark Gregory and figurative sculpture by David Klein, who will also be demonstrating stone carving.

Other venues of Hove Arts are at 12b and 14 Wilbury Grove, 15 Wilbury Grange, Wilbury Road, and 51 Wilbury Road. All these venues are within easy walking distance. Visit them each weekend between 11am-5pm until the May 28.

DANCING: Put on your dancing shoes and go along to Meridian Modern Sequence Dance Club, held at the Meridian Leisure Centre every Friday. MEETING: Busy Bees fund-raiser Sue Hollingdale tells me that they held a meeting last Thursday to discuss fund-raising activities which included their Summer Fayre which is to take place at the infant school, Selham Drive, on June 10, 11am-3pm.

ADVICE SURGERY: Our next councillors' surgery is to take place at our library in Selham Drive on May 27 between 10.30-noon, PC Bob Burdett should also be present.

DIARY DATES: A church coffee morning and silent auction is being held on September 16 at 10.30am. Harvest Supper is on October 7.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: Our Saltdean Senior Citizens' Club are as busy as usual. Tomorrow there's entertainment by The Larks. On May 26 Gill Rosenburg will give a talk on Intune Healing. Both events are in the Community Centre starting at 2.30pm.

Saltdean Oval WI are holding a mini-market in St Nicholas' Hall on Saturday from 10am-noon. There will be stalls for cakes, plants, handicrafts, bric-a-brac, books. Refreshments will be served and admission is 20p.

Saltdean Community Association hold their AGM in the Community Centre on Monday at 7pm. The urgent necessity for a lift in the centre will probably generate lively discussion.

Rottingdean's St Margaret's Scouts are doing a fund-raiser entitled Castles in the Air for Christian Aid in Barclays Bank forecourt on Saturday from 10am-12.30pm.

Also raising cash for Christian Aid, Rottingdean's St. Aubyns School entertain us with a programme of choral and instrumental music tonight at 7pm. Tickets adults £3.50 and children £1.50 from Farthings in the High Street.

Cream teas will be served at the beautiful St. Margaret's Cottage, by the church facing Rottingdean's lovely duck pond, on Sunday afternoon from 2.30-6pm. Proceeds to Christian Aid.

Rottingdean Parish Council hold their annual meeting at the Whiteway Centre on Monday at 7.30pm.

And as part of their A Thousand Years in Rottingdean events, the Whiteway Centre present Arts in Rottingdean by Peter Merry. It's at 7.30pm on May 26. Tickets cost £3, which includes a glass of wine, and are available from The Grange.
