SHOREHAM light-welterweight Gary Harrison is being lined up for his second professional bout.

Harrison, 22, expects to be on a bill on April 8 or 9 and he is hoping that could lead to a Midlands Area title fight.

The boxer hails from the Midlands and, although he made his home in Sussex after marrying a local girl four years ago, he is still eligible to represent that region.

A convincing points victory over journeyman Chris Lyons last June was a perfect start to Harrison's professional career and he is eager now to get back in the ring.

He said: "I have been told I am two or three wins away from from a Midland Area title and that is my aim."

Harrison is trained by Brighton's Bert Barrow but he is managed by Dave Poston, who is based in Wolverhampton.

He is hoping to step up his training regime but is now looking for help in his bid to fly the flag for Sussex.

Harrison added: "I would like to go up to Wolverhampton as often as possible to train with my manager, or maybe up to London, but it is petrol. I just can't afford to do the travelling and I am hoping someone will come forward to sponsor me."

CRAWLEY'S Ben Jones, 17, contests the Southern ABA regional title this weekend at light-welterweight.
