WALLANDS primary school from Lewes has won a trip to Old Trafford.

They will play in front of 60,000 before the Manchester United v Sunderland match on April 15 in the English Schools/Adidas Under-11 Six-A-Side Championship.

They came through the South East Region qualifier at Luton after winning the county crown.

Their coach Malcolm Sowter, who is assisted by former Fulham midfielder Stan Brown, said: "This team can go all the way."

Proud parent Paul Brinkhurst added: "I think it's a tremendous achievement and I'm sure they'll have a great day out at Old Trafford."

At Luton, Wallands finished top scorers with 13 goals, Glen Hunt grabbing nine of them.

In their group games, they defeated Cambridgeshire 3-0 thanks to goals by Hunt (2) and Vaughn Pritchard.

Hunt (2) and Brinkhurst scored as they defeated Kent

3-0. Hunt netted again as they drew 1-1 with Bedfordshire.

Andrew Wilkinson fired the winner in a 1-0 victory against Essex and a Hunt double secured a 2-1 triumph over Middlesex. Hunt added two more and Brinkhurst one in a

3-0 final triumph over Inner London.

Goalkeeper Simon Buxton produced his best game in the final while Joshua Lawrence impressed in defence. They will now take on three other regional champions at the Theatre of Dreams.
