MARTIN Ling aims to prove Barnet and Leyton Orient wrong by contributing to Albion's play-off push.

The Seagulls' deadline-beating signing played a couple of reserve games for tomorrow's hosts after losing his place at Brisbane Road.

"They made me false promises about taking me on loan for the rest of the season, so it is a very interesting scenario," said Ling.

"It is a little bit of an incentive for me, but the real incentive is to keep Brighton on a good run and prove to Micky Adams that I have still got it in my legs."

Ling played for Orient in the play-off final against Scunthorpe at Wembley last season.

He was a regular for three and a half years until mysteriously finding himself surplus to requirements, along with several others, in December.

"We were called in one Monday morning and told five players would be on their way," Ling revealed. "I never really got to the bottom of it.

"There is nothing wrong with my fitness or playing wise and I am out to prove Orient wrong and Micky Adams right."

Play-off fever is gripping the fans. Albion's next home game against Adams' old club Swansea a week tomorrow is already a sell-out.
