Spring has sprung for some youngsters from Waterfield First School at Crawley.

The bulbs that they planted a year ago have pushed through the earth to become a dazzling display.

Youngsters Catherine Watson and Krusha Amin, both seven, couldn't wait to help show off the spread. They met with the mayor of Crawley, Ray Calcott, who told the youngsters how splendid the flowers looked.

The planting of the bulbs was to encourage children to take an interest in nature. It also had the spin-off of bringing a dash of colour for passers-by.
