Brighton Bears must win at least two of their remaining three matches to have any chance of avoiding the Southern Conference wooden spoon.

Last night's 100-79 defeat at London Towers leaves Bears still two points behind London Leopards, who can seal Brighton's fate by winning two of their final three matches.

While Bears reflect on another dismal season, Towers are celebrating winning two trophies in the space of five days. The convincing victory at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre gave them the Southern Conference title to go with the Uni-Ball trophy title.

Bears have a double header against Thames Valley at Birmingham this weekend before closing at home to Milton Keynes on April 8, and Leopards tackle Towers, Newcastle and Birmingham in their run in.

Sadly for Bears they could not rediscover the form that shocked Towers 81-76 in their last meeting, although Mark Dunning's team played well in the first half and led 40-39 at the interval.

A 17-2 run at the start of the third quarter put Towers firmly in control and they outscored Brighton 61-39 in the second half as they sped to one of their biggest wins of the season.

The hosts cruised it with Coleman hitting a game high 29 points. Barry Bowman added 22 and Donnie Johnson 17. Bears Jon Gaines and Jan Trojanowski both hit 18 points.
