Paul Brooker has played down his inspirational role in Albion's play-off push.

The mercurial winger created three of the goals in Tuesday's 5-2 victory against Macclesfield. But Brooker insisted: "I wouldn't say the success is due to me. The team is on a really good run at the moment. Bobby Zamora played his part with six goals in six games and there are 11 players out there."

Brooker is on loan from Fulham for the rest of the season with a view to signing permanently. He was in the Fulham squad steered to promotion by Micky Adams three seasons ago and he senses a similar mood in the Seagulls' camp.

"There is a good cameraderie here," Brooker said. "Micky has got a few players from Fulham and Brentford who he has worked with before and knows what they can do.

"We've got experienced players like Warren Aspinall and Paul Rogers who have seen it and done it. Hopefully that will help. I think my days at Fulham are over. I have been in the reserves there for two or three years now and I am not really getting anywhere."

Brooker has been getting somewhere for Albion down the left flank, although he has spent most of his career playing on the right. It was a dazzling run through the middle which set up Gary Hart's first equaliser against Macclesfield and fans are looking forward to more Brooker magic at Barnet on Saturday.

"I am enjoying my football," he added. "You cannot beat playing in the first team. Barnet have suddenly slid down a bit, but it is still going to be a very difficult game. Hopefully we can win every game to the end of the season. That is our aim."

Paul Rogers has already doubled his previous-best goal tally for a season.

Last Saturday's brace at Lincoln lifted the skipper's total to nine. His highest before that was four for Sheffield United in 1994-95.
