CRAWLEY coach Steve Pilgrim is backing his side to upset the odds in the match of the day at Worthing.

Third meets second in London Three SE at Roundstone Lane and Pilgrim reckons his team are capable of getting the win that would cement their place behind champions-elect Brighton.

Although Crawley went out of the Sussex Trophy to holders Haywards Heath last Sunday, Pilgrim says they learned a lot about themselves.

He said: "Our performance proved that we can play a faster-paced game for the whole match and that's something we are going to have to do in all our remaining matches.

"Against all the four teams we have left to play we are going to have to be at our best. We have picked up a lot of momentum this season and that is still there despite losing in the cup.

"I would put money on us winning at Worthing providing we play at our very best."

Crawley are unchanged while Worthing bring Paul Cox into the back row and have fullback Ben Coulsen available after he missed last weekend's cup win over Bognor.

Director of Rugby Tim McKew watched Crawley's cup tie with Heath and admitted: "Right now I think we'd prefer to be playing Haywards Heath.

"Crawley are going really well but there are a couple of things I saw last Sunday which I think we can exploit."

Leaders Brighton need two more wins to secure the title, but coach Ian Watkins know they will have their work cut out at Heathfield who are fresh from a Sussex Trophy win over Eastbourne.

"Watkins, who will probably field a full strength team, said: "I watched their cup game and I know we are in for a hard game, especially on their pitch which, with all due respect, is not the best.

"But if you are going to win leagues you have to beat sides like Heathfield. We need two wins, but I want us to finish the season unbeaten."

In the other two Sussex derbies home advantage should prove decisive in the other two as East Grinstead, who hope to have some of their regular forwards fit, entertain Eastbourne while Chichester host winless Horsham.

Hove are taking two teams by coach to Folkestone and skipper Richard Jackson has promised his players plenty of stop-offs on the way back.

Haywards Heath have rung the changes ahead of the visit of Beckenham in London Two South.

Scrum half Richard Hudson, centre Matt Benstead and flanker Ali Travis all start with Dave Wattam, Giles Goodburn and Andy Cook rested.

Skipper Henry Goodburn said: "We've been looking to rest the three guys for a while now, luckily we have a squad of 20 really good players and the guys who come won't weaken the side in anway."

Heath are currently three points behind leaders Canterbury and the Kent side also have a game in hand, but Goodburn won't dismiss his team's title chances.

"Our atttiude is the same as it's always been this season. We go into every game expecting to win and hopefully we will be in a position to capitalise if other sides slip up."

Lewes could overtake Charlton Park and lift themselves out of the bottom two if they win their meeting in Kent.
