Albion youngster Shaun Wilkinson has landed himself in disciplinary trouble again.

He was substituted in the first half of the Reserves' 1-0 defeat at QPR yesterday following his 12th booking of the season. Wilkinson was cautioned after a confrontation with Rangers' Paul Murray.

The highly-rated youth team midfielder was making his comeback from his second suspension of the season for accumulating 11 bookings, most of them for mistimed tackles. Fellow youth teamer Daniel Marney took Wilkinson's place after 33 minutes of the Avon Insurance Combination clash at Loftus Road.

Marney missed Albion's best two chances, firing wide after beating the offside trap, then missing the target after being picked out by Paul Armstong's pass on the stroke of half-time.

Rod Thomas staked his claim for a first-team place against Plymouth on Saturday with a lively display. Thomas was at the heart of Albion's best moments, one of them a cross which Danny Davis headed wide.

Mark Ormerod produced an excellent first-half save to deny Rangers' Dutch striker Sammy Koejoe at point-blank range, but was beaten by Richard Graham's 58th-minute winner. Andy Crosby returned to action following a suspension and David Cameron was among the substitutes.

But the big Scot didn't get the chance to make a point to watching manager Micky Adams and his assistant Alan Cork. Albion's assistant manager had branded Cameron "useless" after he was substituted 20 minutes into the first team's 2-0 defeat at Hull last Saturday.

Albion Reserves: Ormerod, Armstrong, Mayo, Culverhouse, Andrews, Crosby, Palmer, D. Davis, Ramsay, Wilkinson (Marney 33), Thomas. Subs not used: A.Davis, McPhee, Cameron, Packham.
