But the happy couple are now planning their own match of the day after hotshot Leighton Allen hit his target.

Leighton, who plays for Saltdean United, reached his milestone in a game against Hassocks.

And Sarah admitted she was more surprised than anyone.

She said: "I didn't think he would actually do it.

"When he was coming home after each game saying he had scored a hat-trick or whatever, I was getting worried - it meant I had to go out and book things!"

Leighton, 25, who is a former Wimbledon and Colchester professional, said: "The incentive to get married spurred me on but I also wanted to do well for Saltdean.

"I have enjoyed this season ever so much. It has been my best since coming out of professional football."

The couple, who have a daughter called Lara Jane, are set to marry in Lewes on June 26.

Sarah said: "Last season I said we would have a baby if he scored 30 goals, although Lara arrived before he achieved that.

"I will have to think of something else for next season!"

The register office wedding will be followed by a reception at Ringmer Football Club, where Leighton's father Gary is team manager.
