SCARLETT QUINN has been singing and dancing since she was six years old.

Now at the age of 12 she oozes confidence, and is not even fazed by the prospect of interviewing some of the country's biggest pop stars.

So it came as no surprise to her mother, Helen, when her young prodigy was picked from nearly 2000 hopefuls to be the star presenter of The Disney Channel's Kids Award show.

Proud mum, Helen, of Monument View, Brighton, said: "She's always singing and dancing around the house and copying the pop stars on TV."

Sussex youngsters flocked to the Dome in Brighton yesterday to catch a glimpse of their favourite pop groups - and to audition for a one-off opportunity to be a Disney presenter for the day. The show featured pop stars including Cleopatra, Vanilla and OTT.

Scarlett turned up at 8.30am and was one of the first to be auditioned. Out of hundreds of potential stars, Scarlett impressed Disney Channel judge Gary Pope the most.

He said: "We couldn't believe how confident she was in front of the camera, and she didn't seemed fazed by any of the activity going on around her. She's cheeky, funny and very talented I think she'll steal the show."

When Scarlett heard she had been picked as the new Disney presenter she ran to the nearest phone to break the news to her mum Helen.

Helen said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard Scarlett was going to be a star on television. All I could think about was getting down there to give her a big hug.

Scarlett is a pupil The Alexandra School of Dance and Dorothy Stringer School and appeared in last year's pantomime Dick Whittington, with Lorraine Chase and Zodiac at the Theatre Royal, Brighton."

Bubbly Scarlett met up with top pop band OTT and asked them what was the most outrageous thing they'd ever done. The lads told her they used to have huge water fights and drop water ballons on people from their hotel rooms.

Scarlett asked Vanilla why they chose the name and was told it was because they were fresh, sweet and saucy.

Every pop interview was filmed for the Disney Channel and clips were flashed up on giant screens during the show at The Dome.

This Thursday and Friday Scarlet's interviews will be shown nationwide on The Disney Channel.

Scarlett will have another shot at fame on October 4 at the final Disney Channel party in London. She has been invited to put her new presenting skills into practise and will have the chance to interview Boyzone, Cleopatra and many more stars.

Scarlett said:"I've really enjoyed myself and I definitely want to be a presenter when I leave school, if not sooner."
