Regarding the letter from Councillor Peter Willows (July 9), may I point out that the people and children of this country are already proud to be British - as seen in the joy with which we greeted the Olympic bid's success and the way everyone is pulling together after the horrific events in London.
What we don't need is the musical dirge which promotes the monarch.
It is not a national anthem but a royalist one and the tune is appallingly plodding.
