At about 7pm on the day of the Wimbledon men's tennis final, my son and daughter asked if I could take them to The Salts recreation ground in Seaford for a game of tennis.
Over the past few weeks, they have been playing regularly at different venues. But on arriving at the courts, I could not believe they were locked up on a lovely evening with virtually no wind - perfect for a game of tennis.
Do all tennis courts in Lewes district close at the same time in the summer? Do they all charge the same exorbitant amount of £5 per session, even if it is for children?
Lewes Council needs to get a grip and do something for young sports players. It should keep these facilities open and keep the prices down, as well as encourage people to take more exercise by taking part in more sporting activities.
We all know their opposing views on the community stadium at Falmer, which will provide many sporting opportunities for our young people, and this, in itself, speaks volumes.
