I am concerned about Brighton and Hove City Council's proposal for a park-and-ride scheme at Braypool in Patcham.

I am not normally one to complain. However, on this occasion, I feel I have to speak out.

If the council was to get the go-ahead and build a park-and-ride scheme, it would have serious and detrimental effect on the RSPCA's excellent work at its Braypool shelter.

My cat nearly became a resident there when his previous owner moved abroad. I like to think he is one of the lucky ones, with a home and loving owners. Some of the RSPCA animals aren't so lucky.

Some have been kicked out of their homes and left to starve. Some are nervous and scared and a scheme such as this, causing so much additional noise and pollution, will only contribute to their stress and have a serious effect on their wellbeing.

All the animals which live at the shelter enjoy the love and care of the dedicated staff and helpers who work there. They have lovely facilities and are well looked after.

A park-and-ride scheme will reverse the days, months and years which have gone into caring for these unfortunate animals.

I urge you to re-think the plan to build a park-and-ride scheme. Something has to be done to reduce traffic in the city but the answer does not lie at Braypool.
