Passing the Black Rock site, I thought, "Blimey, the international ice rink and conference centre is about to happen after a two-year wait".
But no, silly me. I now read (The Argus, June 30) that it was a delivery of sand for an exhibition of sculptures.
Another place I pass regularly in Brighton is the Preston Barracks site, with its large board boasting of a jointly-funded scheme. But again, there's been no action for more than two years.
It's lucky these sites do not have listed buildings on them, otherwise we would see another West Pier stalemate occur.
If the football stadium and King Alfred site developments are given approval, will it be compulsory to have a two-year wait before construction starts?
Still, I suppose after a 30-year wait for the Brighton Station site to be developed, a two-year wait must be progress.
