this is brighton offers a critical view of what's hot for the coming week: Peter Andre is at Revenge's 14th birthday party on Sunday 17th July, plus Danny George Wilson at the Hanbury Ballroom on the 19th and Old Crow Medicine Show at Komedia on the 20th.

Peter Andre at Revenge's 14th Birthday Party, Revenge, Old steine, Brighton, Sunday, July 17.

After the hype surrounding his newly-born son Junior and his appearance at The Party In The Park today, Mr Jordan finds another way to step into the public eye performing at the 14th birthday party of Brighton's most renowned gay club. With a few pop tunes and a bulging six pack, the star should make camp festivities zing, especially if he brings along his not-very mysterious girl in her Eurovision pink catsuit. Insania indeed. Starts 10pm, tickets cost £7. Call 01273 606064 Danny George Wilson, Hanbury Ballroom, St George's Rd, Brighton, Tuesday, July 19.

This singer from Grand Drive, the Americana band from Surrey, has just released his debut solo album. A simple but powerful mix of melody, acoustic guitar, cello, dobro and double bass, The Famous Mad Mile is named after a stretch of road between Sutton and his home county where he spent his wild teen years. "It was a place where we went as kids," he says. "It was very Wayne's World." Starts 7.30pm, tickets cost £8/£6. Call 01273 605789 Old Crow Medicine Show, Komedia, Gardner Street, Brighton, Wednesday, July 20.

If you missed out on Hayseed Dixie, this is the gig to console yourself with. Old Crow, a youthful five piece, put on a foot-stompin' show laden with punkified versions of early American tunes originally played on back porches and dance halls. There's New Orleans style jug jazz, southern Appalachian string music and Memphis blues, influenced by a range of musical outlaws such as Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain. Starts 8.30pm, tickets cost £10. Call 01273 647100.
