Thieves and vandals are continuing to target a lido despite warnings it was forcing the operators out of business.

Tony Sarin, manager of Saltdean Lido, in Marine Drive, said people kept breaking in despite tighter security measures that meant no cash was kept there overnight.

Fence panels were ripped down and used for firewood on the beach and cost hundreds of pounds to replace.

He said: "We have had a couple of break-ins in the last couple of weeks but the police are helping us with extra security. It costs us a lot of money and it's an on-going situation of deciding whether we can afford to continue."
